Local Power Inc. is a nationally recognized leader in preparing local governments to implement large-scale local renewable energy projects, providing municipal and county green power program design and implementation with a rare sophistication navigating government, legal, logistical and financial challenges. Over the past fifteen years, Local Power wrote America's first renewable energy financing authority (San Francisco's Solar Bond Authority, 2001) and is author of not only California's Community Choice law (AB117, 2002) but also similar laws in other U.S. states. Over the past decade, Local Power has drafted government policy documents, implementation plans and solicitation documents for major and minor municipal and regional governments - see below. Local Power's laws have led to over a million Americans receiving new energy services that include major accomplishments in green power, energy independence and climate protection. Local Power is best known for its ten years leading San Francisco's CleanPowerSF program, which will build the largest and local green power project in the world. We continue to play strategic roles in both Sonoma County's Climate Action Plan and the Marin Energy Authority's Marin Clean Energy program, and have partnered with and served over a dozen state governments and agencies, municipally owned utilities, irrigation districts, and non-governmental organizations. Based in San Francisco, Local Power is distinguished by its commitment to achieving real, tangible results, and is seeking to support local community initiatives and local governments that are actively seeking to accomplish substantial climate protection measures, energy independence goals, and local green power and smart grid development.
